In today’s rapidly evolving healthcare landscape, caregivers are more critical than ever in supporting Canadian families. In this spirit, the Ontario College of Management and Technology (OCMT) is proud to announce the launch of its innovative Personal Support Worker (PSW) with Digital Technology program, the first of its kind in Canada.
As Canada’s population ages, the need for skilled and compassionate personal support workers becomes increasingly urgent. PSWs provide essential care to seniors, individuals with special needs, and young families, acting as the backbone of our health care system. Their dedication, particularly during the COVID-19 pandemic, has highlighted their role as silent heroes in our communities.
The OCMT PSW-DT program combines traditional caregiving skills with cutting-edge technology, preparing students to meet the evolving demands of the health care sector. The curriculum includes direct patient care and the use of digital health information system for robust and meaningful documentation to guide quality care delivery. Overall, PSWs represent the largest group of health care professionals across our health care system. With the increasing technology adoption across health care institutions, it has become more crucial for PSWs to be skilled in using relevant health electronic system in capturing the direct care information they provide to effectively enhance care.
